About

Costanza Sciubba Caniglia works where technology, democracy, and global governance collide. She is driven by one core mission: building an information ecosystem that empowers people, protects truth, and strengthens democratic resilience.

Today, Costanza leads information integrity strategy at the Wikimedia Foundation, supporting one of the world’s most trusted public knowledge platforms. She works closely with governments, multilateral institutions, academia, and the tech sector to defend open knowledge and expand access to reliable information.

She serves on the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Information Integrity, advises the Freedom Online Coalition, and co-founded the Harvard Kennedy School Misinformation Review, a pioneering journal shaping the science of misinformation. She also sits on the RightsCon Program Committee.

Costanza’s path spans the United Nations, academia, journalism, and civic tech. She previously served as Italy’s Deputy Spokesperson at the UN Security Council, navigating crises and negotiations at the highest levels of global diplomacy. In 2021, she was named one of La Repubblica’s 50 Women of the Year for her leadership in digital governance.

She teaches at LUISS University, writes and speaks widely on the political and human impact of emerging technologies, and collaborates with institutions across the world on AI governance, digital sovereignty, and the future of the digital commons.

Costanza holds an MPA from Harvard University and an MA in Philosophy from La Sapienza University of Rome. More than anything, she believes in the power of informed communities and public-interest technology to shape a more equitable digital future.
